Impressions about the project (2)
We continue the story of our project seen through the eyes of remedial education teacher Lucretia Bancu, who took care of our beneficiaries from the Adjudeni Vocational School.
“I worked with 59 beneficiaries aged between 7 and 16 years. I carried out remedial education activities with a group of 30 children and support activities with a group of 29 children, and I can say with my hand on my heart that the most appreciated were the socialization games such as “Postman” or “Open your ear” good”, the sensory stimulation games in which we built plasticine models together, or we paired the objects according to the sound, then the personal autonomy games (“Stay on red, go on green!”, “Balloons with the days of the week”, “At the show “, “On a visit to the museum” or “On a trip”, and last but not least Cognitive development games: “Vegetable salad”, “Animal family”. I named them because maybe someone would be curious to find out and alone what these games mean and how important they are in children’s development.
From this project I wanted that, through the activities and games applied to bring the mood, the students get to know each other better in order to socialize more easily, to feel at ease at school and in other communities and to realize that they can do the same things as all the other classmates in their class.
The effect of the activities? An inclusion made step by step, with friendship and with a smile on your face. That is why I believe that such activities must continue.” says teacher Lucretia Bancu.
Asked if she could give an example related to the evolution of a beneficiary, she answered in a moment: “We certainly don’t have a single example, but now I can think of the one of student C., who entered the project from grade a- VI, when he was a shy child, not integrated into the collective, a child with whom I related very well from the first moment, with a lot of love and patience, who now comes with love to school and to all activities, happily explaining that he learned how to be open in the relationship with an adult, how to trust, how to ask for advice, how important it is to learn books to have a job and a future.
It should be added that such projects are useful to both teachers and parents of students with special educational needs and involve the development of a long-term program or plan of extracurricular activities. I am thinking of establishing a community club in order to involve the students in activities that will further develop them and make the most of their abilities, talents, and skills. It would be great for the whole community!” added Mrs. Lucretia Bancu, remedial education teacher.
