”Get me involved and I’ll understand”
The weekend took us to visit the beneficiaries of our project at the Secondary School in Ion Creangă commune – the Recea structure. Thus, we met some of the most beautiful and friendliest children in the project: Andrada, Robert, David, Eduard and Valentin. Today’s activity outlined the importance of confidence and self-image, elements that influence children’s development.
“A good self-image gives them enthusiasm, energy, determination, helps them relate harmoniously with others. As we know, a factor with great influence in the development of the child’s self-confidence is the trust in interpersonal relationships. That is why we always try to involve children in interactive activities, remembering the words of Confucius: “Teach me and I will forget, show me and I will remember, involve me and I will understand”. In today’s activity, I guided them in observing and self-knowing their strengths, but also their own weaknesses, knowing that it is important to always have a balance between self-appreciation and self-criticism, neither of the two extremes being effective. At the same time, they were guided to observe and verbalize the strong points of the other members of the group. Self-confidence, developing in childhood, can be defined as a person’s certainty that they can face any challenges and reach their potential with the help of their own strengths. ” Diana Ionela Imbru, psychologist, told us.
